Riding a motorcycle in the open air and on a good road can be an exhilarating experience. The world seems more open while riding a bike than in a car. Good news is, Texas has a few great places that are highly recommended for motorcycle road trips. We have shared the top six places that you will enjoy exploring.
1) Three Sisters or 100 Mile Loop
Situated about 100 miles northwest of San Francisco, Three Sisters offers a scenic road trip and is considered to be the best. Begin and end your journey in Leakey. Go through the twisted and beautiful roads through Central Texas and enjoy the panoramic views. You can stop by a motorcycle museum and other handful stops along the route. Although an interesting route, it is not recommended for amateur riders.
2) Willow City Loop
This scenic place is located a few miles outside of Fredricksburg in Central Texas. Beautiful hills, plenty of wildflowers, make the place even more enticing. You can stop by at bars that cater to motorcyclists. However, watch out for cattle on the road and other hazards including sightseers in the cars who tend to jam up the roads.
3) Farm to Market Road 149
These 30 miles of twisting roads to the west of Montgomery provide riders with a scenic ride with its beautiful pines, hilly fields, and wildflowers. If you wish to stretch your legs a bit, there are several places you can stop by and grab a bite too.
4) Sam Houston National Forest trails
Enjoy the natural beauty of this 85 miles marked trail on your road bike. Ride through lush forest, several bridges and have fun at $5 per person. You can be assured of a great ride if you own a dirt bike.
5) Farm Market Road 170 Presidio County
This highway starting from Candelaria offers an adventurous ride for motorcyclists. This route is considered to be a cool ride by many motorcyclists. As some part of it skirts along the Rio Grande River, it is also known as “The River Road” by the locals. The ride is challenging with its sharp turns and steep inclines.
6) Galveston Seawall through Brazoria National Wildlife Refuge
Plan a trip on this route and experience the magical ride of your life! Close to Houston, there is no better way to travel along this coastline than a motorbike ride. Breeze through Seawall and County Road 227 to reach coastal prairies and marshes of Brazoria National Wildlife Refuge. Complete the loop by getting back to 45 and then to Houston.
