BMW's Full-Size Flying Motorcycle: Inspired by a Lego Kit!

Every Lego fan has always dreamt of creating an awesome high-performance machine into a real full sized version. Unfortunately, this dream remains unfulfilled for many of them due to lack of resources, but BMW Motorrad has made this dream into a reality. BMW have debuted as a full-size flying motorcycle which is based on a Lego Kit and is called the Hover Ride. Lego always provides a new inspiration for everyone and is a great source of brilliance for all the designers and engineers.

BMW and LEGO have successfully collaborated to bring to life the new Hover Ride Design Concept which is truly amazing. The engineers from both the companies took inspiration from the BMW R 1200 GS Adventure kit in which the designers are using the same parts to create an amazing version of the flying bike.

Many Lego kits are referred to as 2 in 1, in which set of Lego pieces can be modified into two finished products. The second kit for the R 1200 GS was a flying bike bundled with many unique features. The team has so much fun working together with Lego that they decided to make a full-scale model.

Production of the full-size flying bike concept came about due to the support and involvement of the BMW Junior Company Munich. The trainees of BMW used their skills and different production parts of  BMW R 1200 GS Adventure to build the best high-performance model based on the LEGO Technic. After developing the LEGO variant idea, the team was very determined and excited to take an action to build a real life-size flying motorbike.

Though it is not a functioning concept but it feels great to see a how a  bike became a hoverbike concept from a Lego kit. Each detail of the bike is well integrated according to the LEGO concept, right from the adjustable windshield and moving handlebars. The bike includes many elements that enhance the beauty of the bike such as the studded tires and black spoke wheels. The bike has BMW elements such as two cylinder engine and the front wheel of the bike is considered as the concept’s propeller.

Though hoverboards and hoverbike remain the subject of the science and fiction but due to advanced technology, flying transport has become the real world products. The task of building the full-size flying bike was assigned to the students of BMW Junior Company and they did a fabulous job. Many elements are modified to give it a unique look and to form a helix. Both the team used their talent and expertise to build the best Technic Hover Ride.

It can be considered as the perfect machine for the mankind as it runs smoothly on any road without breaking a sweat according to the engineers who built it. But it is still unclear whether the company will turn this amazing idea into a reality of commercially available bike. Since the group is celebrating 40 years of LEGO Technic in 2017, there is a very special element which is hidden in the set that enhances the LEGO Technic.

This full sized model of a flying motorcycle was presented at Lego World in Copenhagen for the first time. Though the ride is not functional yet but the display alone will truly blow your mind. The Lego kit is available for $59.99. All the bike enthusiasts are truly very excited and eagerly waiting for the full sized production model very soon.
