New 2017 BMW K1600GT Revealed at the Intermot

German manufacturing giant BMW have recently unveiled their latest superbike tourer: the K1600GT. The highway super-machine is set for 2017 release after a few updates: upgraded electronic components, extra refinement and new colors.

The motorcycle’s 1600cc inline-six engine has now been made Euro 4-compliant, with output still being retained at 160 horsepower and a torque of 175Nm. The ESA electronic suspension with automated damping adaptation has now been standardized with both road and dynamic modes, enhancing handling and seating comfort during riding.

For the “road” mode, the damping adaptation still retains its full automation and is optimized for traction comfort on any road type. As for the “dynamic” mode, things are a bit more sport-focused, with everything tightened up and settings optimized for safe highest-speed cornering and handling. An electrically-adjustable springing preload also provides extra scope for the customization of the K1600GT's behavior, more so when you’ve on board another passenger.

Also in the 2017 BMW K1600GT is a new “reverse assist” feature system that’s activated using a button installed on the left handlebar. This feature makes reversing easier by offering power assistance to the rider during backward riding, meaning that you will no longer have to rely on your muscle power alone anymore.

There is also a new optional “shift assistant pro” that enables clutchless upshifts and downshifts, with the newly-redesigned instrument cluster also enhancing readability. Finally for redesigns, several parts of the bodywork and the windscreen have been redone to boost wind deflection and better protect the rider from extreme weather.

The 2017 K1600GT is also equipped with the uniquely BMW “Intelligent Emergency Call” system as an optional additional feature to offer quick assistance in case of an emergency situation like an accident. With both automatic and manual activation possible, the call system is designed to be able to communicate the position of the bike by sending the coordinates of the location of the emergency situation so that the nearest BMW Call Center can respond.

As for the new colors for the latest K1600GT model, we’ll have metallic red, metallic blue and metallic black. We believe that the 2017 BMW K1600GT remains one of the top touring motorbikes on the planet today.

Keep it here for pricing details and the actual date when the super-tourer will be available for purchasing.
